The families of those killed in a cooking gas explosion in May 20 at Gaugal in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City-19 submitted a memorandum to the Minister for Commerce and Supplies Ganesh Man Pun, demanding compensation on Sunday. Suresh Tamrakar, Dhruba Tamrakar and Rahesh Tamrakar were killed when a cooking gas of HP Company exploded. They were working at a copper and silver company in the capacity of craftsmen when the incident occurred. The memo demands an increment in the compensation amount to be given to the bereaved families for the damage of properties to Rs 5 million from the existing Rs 1.5 million. Likewise, the demand said that the license of the concerned cooking gas company should be scrapped. In response, the Minister said that the government was concerned with the demands of the victim families and that the process would be initiated to compensate the victim and take action against the guilty. He also pledged the Ministry would deploy a team including experts to examine the quality of liquefied petroleum gas for further investigation into the case.
