Few months ago 10 Nepali workers were crushed to death in Dehradun India.
Local authorities recovered bodies of 10 Nepal-origin labourers on Monday afternoon after they were buried under boulders in a landslide the night before during a heavy storm. The landslide took place at Chetra village of Tyuni block, around 150 kilometers away from Dehradun district headquarters. Sixteen labourers had taken shelter under the boulders but got trapped when a landslide dislodged the rocks. The remaining six labourers were injured, five of who were sent to Tyuni and one to Dehradun for medical treatment. According to the Tyuni sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Premlal, rescue operations started early on Monday morning as soon as information regarding the mishap reached him. “All the bodies were recovered after a more than five hours-long rescue operation by the local police and disaster management rescue and search teams. Victims were from Nepal and worked as road construction workers. They were buried under the landslide debris that included heavy boulders triggered by a tempest and storm late Sunday at around 2 am,” said Premlal.
